Mary Eloise
McConnell Sarsfield, 86, of Culloden, WV, was a loving mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, but foremost a child of Christ and
a devoted member of His church, died Tuesday March 29, 2011 at her
daughter’s residence. Funeral service will be conducted 2:30 PM Sunday April
3, 2011 at Chapman’s Mortuary Huntington with Pastor’s Donald Walker & Trent
Eastman officiating. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park. Mary was born
April 28, 1924 in Huntington, WV the daughter of the late John Harold & Eva
Neff McConnell. She was retired from the Corps of Engineers with 20 years of
service. She was a member of the former 20th St. Baptist Church and now the
New Baptist Church, was baptized 76 years ago, an active member of the
Bykota Sunday School Class, American Baptist Women’s Association, KYOVA
Quilters, Creative Quilters, Harvest Travel Club, Lifetime member of the
Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, AARP, Appalachian Power Company Retirees club,
Beverly Hills Woman’s Club and the Huntington Garden Club. Her husband
William Edward Sarsfield preceded her in death. Survivors include two
daughters & sons-in-law Teresa & Earl Trawick of Culloden, WV & LuAnne &
Terry Egnor of Proctorville, OH, a grandson Trevor Egnor & wife Cheryl of
Proctorville, Ohio, a granddaughter Whitney Stephens & husband Jonathon of
Jacksonville, NC, 3 step-grandchildren Alaine Call & husband Terry of Ona,
WV, Earl Trawick, Jr. & wife Wendy of Springboro, OH, Kim Harrell & husband
Dylan of Cary, NC, a great-granddaughter Gabriella Stephens of Jacksonville,
NC, 6 step-great-grandchildren Laiken Call of Ona, WV, Ryan, Bailey, Gavin,
Sydney Trawick all of Springboro, Ohio, & Xaiden Harrell of Cary, NC.
Pallbearers will be Trevor Egnor, grandson, Earl Trawick, Sr., son-in-law,
Philip Holmes, Alan Meek, Carl Pemberton & Darrell Walden. Honorary
Pallbearers will be Jim Castleberry & Virgil Kelly. In lieu of flowers
donations may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen
Allen, VA. 23058-516 (800) 242-8721. Friends may call after 12:30 PM Sunday
at Chapman’s Mortuary.
