Paul William
Miller 98, of Huntington, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2011,
in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, and went to a new residence, one
with streets of gold and gates of pearl. He was born March 28, 1912, in
Findlay, Ohio, a son of the late William H. D. and Charlotte Anne Shuman
Miller. In addition to his parents, his sister, Ruthanna Ritter and a
grandson, Robb Miller preceded him in death. Funeral services will be
conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Community of Grace United
Methodist Church, of which he was a member, with Pastor Steven Hamrick
officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. He was a 60 year
member of the former Faith United Methodist Church. He graduated from
Findlay College with a degree in chemistry, and worked for the Ohio Oil and
Refining Company during WW II. He then went to work for the C&O Railroad,
retiring in 1974 as Engineer of Tests in the Chemical and Mechanical
Divisions, and was the only spectrographer in the state of WV. He was a
member of the American Chemical Society, National Chemical Association, a
Kentucky Colonel, Past president of the Ohio Genealogical Society, past
president of the West Huntington Kiwanis being named Distinguished Man of
the Year, the Wally Byam Airstream Club and a member of the Can-Do Camping
Club. His beloved wife of 69 years; Ethel P. Hummell Miller survives Paul.
Additional survivors include, one daughter and son-in-law, Ethel P.
Venturino-Moore (Earl) of Bayonet Point, FL; two sons and daughters-in-law,
Robert E. Miller (Betty L.) of Barboursville and Roger William Miller (Mary
Anne) of Lavalette; a brother and sister-in-law, Floyd Waldo Miller (Mildred
D.) of Quincy, PA; Seven grandchildren, Deborah K. Millner (Jack) of Winter
Park, FL, Daniel A Venturino, II, (Tonya) of Lutz, FL, Nicholas A. Venturino,
D.C. (Tiffany) of Tampa, FL, Jennifer Marie Bellomy (Jim) of Barboursville,
Sandra D. Oiler (Paul) of Chillicothe, OH, Shawn W. Miller of Huntington,
Aaron Scott Miller (Pearl) of Proctorville, Ohio; 19 great-grandchildren; 8
great-great grandchildren, and a host of cousins friends and church family.
The family would like to thank the friendly and loving staff of the Emogene
Dolin Jones Hospice House who cared for Paul and his wife so tenderly during
his last days. Friends may call from noon to service time Saturday at the
Church. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made
to the Cabell Wayne Association of the Blind, or the charity of ones choice.
