(December 23, 1921 - March 5, 2011)

Dorothy Mae Staten, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and mother-in-law passed away peacefully surrounded by her children and grandchildren Saturday, March 5, 2011, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Chapman's Mortuary with Rev. Carl W. Mouser officiating. Committal services and burial will follow at 3:00 pm Wednesday in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill WV. She was born December 23, 1921, in Logan County, a daughter of the late Hester Lauderback. In addition to her mother, her grandparents, Rev. Clement Mitchell and Dorothy Perry Mitchell; her husband, George W. Staten; two brothers, James Lauderback and John Lauderback, Jr, also preceded her in death. As a member of the Greatest Generation, she lived through many hard and trying times, but came through each one with the strength and faith in God that became her heritage. Widowed at the age of 39 from her only love, she devoted her life to her family and her faith. She was a faithful member of the Cox Landing United Methodist Church, and was a former employee of Sears Department Store. She leaves behind her children, Karen (James) Cummings, Georgia Staten, Gary Staten and Gail (Stephen "Wig") Hendrick; two sisters, Gloria (Bert) Molnar and Laura (Harry) Booth; a special uncle, Bill (Emma) Mitchell, and a special cousin, Irene (Andy) Anderson. She was the proud grandmother of four grandchildren, Gina (Greg) Pertee, Angela (Doug) Urling, Chris (Melissa) Staten and Jared Staten, and five great-grandchildren, Tyler Pertee, Hunter Pertee, George Urling, Will Urling and Lena Staten, to whom she was affectionately known as, "MamMam" and several beloved nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House 3100 Staunton Road, Huntington, WV 25702.
