Richard Max Tawney
(August 21, 1937 - March 28, 2011)



Richard Max Tawney 73, of Chesapeake, Ohio, loving husband, father and friend, passed away Monday, March 28, 2011, in Cabell Huntington Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday April 2, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church of which he was a member, with Monsignor Lawrence Luciana officiating. Private entombment will be in Woodmere Memorial Park, Garden Abbey on Avondale Road, at a later time. He was born August 21, 1937, in Huntington, a son of the late Max Henry and Lula Russell Tawney. A brother, Robert Tawney also preceded him in death. He was a retired supervisor for Heiners Bakery, and served on the Huntington Police Department Reserve Unit. Prior to his failing health, he enjoyed making wooden toys. Survivors include: his wife, Marilyn Sue Gay Tawney of Chesapeake; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Dianna Pratt of Columbus, Ohio, Terresa Pratt (Steve) of Chesapeake, Ohio, and Rhonda Kline (Chris) of Pedro, Ohio; 7 grandchildren, Richard Evicks, Kristyn New, Derrick Pratt, Brandon Pratt, Tawney Pratt, Joshua Kline and Elizabeth Kline; great-grandson, Maxwell Evicks; his four-legged companion Buttons; Dr. Kevin Hennessy who he thought of as a son and his wife Janeen; and a host of other friends and family. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington. The family wishes to thank those who took care of Dick during his illness, may God Bless each and every one of you. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to St. Joseph Church, 1304-Sixth Avenue, Huntington, WV 25701.
