Richard Max Tawney
(August 21, 1937 - March 28, 2011)

Richard Max Tawney 73, of Chesapeake, Ohio, loving husband, father and friend, passed away Monday, March 28, 2011, in Cabell Huntington Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday April 2, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church of which he was a member, with Monsignor Lawrence Luciana officiating. Private entombment will be in Woodmere Memorial Park, Garden Abbey on Avondale Road, at a later time. He was born August 21, 1937, in Huntington, a son of the late Max Henry and Lula Russell Tawney. A brother, Robert Tawney also preceded him in death. He was a retired supervisor for Heiners Bakery, and served on the Huntington Police Department Reserve Unit. Prior to his failing health, he enjoyed making wooden toys. Survivors include: his wife, Marilyn Sue Gay Tawney of Chesapeake; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Dianna Pratt of Columbus, Ohio, Terresa Pratt (Steve) of Chesapeake, Ohio, and Rhonda Kline (Chris) of Pedro, Ohio; 7 grandchildren, Richard Evicks, Kristyn New, Derrick Pratt, Brandon Pratt, Tawney Pratt, Joshua Kline and Elizabeth Kline; great-grandson, Maxwell Evicks; his four-legged companion Buttons; Dr. Kevin Hennessy who he thought of as a son and his wife Janeen; and a host of other friends and family. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington. The family wishes to thank those who took care of Dick during his illness, may God Bless each and every one of you.
