Obituary



Robert David Mays, 87, of Chesapeake, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018 in St. Mary's Medical Center. Born July 28, 1931, in Ashland, KY, he was the son of the late Paul and Teschie Garrett Mays. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Homer, Roy, Eugene, Paul and Donald Mays; five sisters-in-law, Doris Mays, Eleanor Mays, Betty Mays, Janice Mays and Bettalee Mays. He was a US Army veteran, retired from Special Metals and had pastored several churches over the years. Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 pm Monday, December 10, 2018 at the Woodmere Memorial Park Abbey of Remembrance on Avondale Road, with Pastor Dwight Mays officiating. Entombment will follow in the Garden Building. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Puckett Mays of Chesapeake; one daughter, Pamela Mays also of Chesapeake; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jerry Mays of Huntington, and David and Lora Mays of Chesapeake; three brothers and a sister-in-law, James Mays, Herman Mays and Kenneth Mays (Sheri); four grandchildren, Chastity Napier (Ronnie), Jennifer Maynard (Shawn), Megan Cantley (Jackie), and Haylee Mays; 8 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to service time Monday at the cemetery. Chapman's Mortuary is assisting the family.
